My Approach
When it comes to life, we are bound to eventually face difficulties. I truly believe that is it easy to get lost in the fast paced world we live in today. Instead of embracing ourselves as a perfectly imperfect human "being", we get stuck in the cycle of human "doing" while comparing our worth with the achievements of others. My approach to therapy focuses on the person as a whole, not just the "symptoms". I approach each client with genuineness, curiosity, and compassion. Often clients find that I work on a much deeper level by healing both the wounds of the past while also inspiring change in the here and now. We will work together to find your path that will help you reclaim your power and move towards a more grounded foundation within yourself. My Approach includes a mixture of: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Internal Family Systems (Parts Work) Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy Experiential Therapy Inner Child Work Whether its LGBT therapy, anxiety, depression, recovery from toxic relationships, or other life struggle, I approach each client in a way that addresses their unique needs and goals. |

Specialist in Therapy for Gay Men
In a world where sexual orientation is diverse and beautiful, the mental health needs of gay men deserve special attention. Society has made significant strides in accepting and supporting the LGBTQ+ community, but many gay men, especially gay men of color, still face unique challenges and pressures that can impact their mental well-being. My goal is to provide a safe space to explore your unique experiences, process emotions, and develop coping strategies.
- Coming Out and Self-Acceptance: The journey of coming out and self-acceptance can be both liberating and challenging for gay men. Therapy can play a crucial role in helping individuals navigate this process, providing a supportive environment to explore feelings, fears, and identity. Therapists can assist in developing strategies to cope with potential rejection, internalized homophobia, and societal pressures. By addressing these issues, therapy can promote self-acceptance, boost self-esteem, and foster a sense of empowerment.
- Building Healthy Relationships: Developing and maintaining healthy relationships can be complex for gay men. Therapy offers a platform to explore relationship dynamics, communication skills, and intimacy concerns. It can help individuals navigate dating, address relationship challenges, and develop strategies to establish meaningful connections. Therapists can also assist in addressing issues related to internalized shame, fear of commitment, or past traumatic experiences, empowering gay men to build and maintain fulfilling relationships.
- Managing Mental Health Issues: Gay men often face higher rates of mental health issues compared to their heterosexual counterparts. Factors such as discrimination, minority stress, and social isolation can contribute to anxiety, depression, substance abuse, or body image concerns. Therapy provides a safe space to address these challenges, offering support, guidance, and evidence-based interventions. Therapists can help individuals develop effective coping strategies, improve self-care practices, and address underlying issues contributing to mental health difficulties.
- Overcoming Minority Stress: Minority stress refers to the unique stressors experienced by individuals who belong to marginalized groups. Gay men may encounter discrimination, prejudice, or stigmatization, which can have a detrimental impact on mental health. Therapy can assist in navigating and mitigating the effects of minority stress, helping individuals build resilience, develop self-advocacy skills, and find community support. By working with a therapist, gay men can explore healthy ways to cope with external pressures and promote overall well-being.
